AI Assurance

Can this AI use case responsibly proceed?

Bring evidence, risk and human accountability together before an AI decision becomes an operational commitment.

AI Assurance

The problem

A successful demonstration does not establish that an AI system is appropriate for its intended use. Important questions can remain about affected people, information, reliability, controls, ownership and the consequences of failure.

The outcome

A proportionate advisory assessment of a defined use case, with evidence, unresolved issues, conditions and a recommendation for the authorised decision-maker.

Who it is for

Use-case owners, agency AI leads, executives, architecture and risk teams, and organisations seeking a considered review before procurement, a pilot, rollout or a material change.

When to use it

Before an important approval; when an existing use case changes its data, model, users or level of autonomy; or when assurance evidence is incomplete or inconsistent.

How we work

Agree the use-case boundary and assessment criteria. Review available evidence and consult relevant owners. Examine controls and information gaps. Record the assurance position, conditions, residual risks and triggers for reassessment.

Key activities

Consider purpose, accountability, people and service impact, information, privacy, security, architecture, model behaviour, reliability, human oversight, fairness, accessibility, monitoring and operational ownership. Involve qualified specialists where deeper testing or advice is required.

What you receive

An assessment scope; evidence and control map; findings and risk summary; remediation and condition register; an executive decision brief; and a monitoring and reassessment plan. Recommendations distinguish ready to proceed, proceed subject to conditions, remediation required and escalation recommended.

Why it matters

Make the basis for a decision understandable and traceable. Identify what must be resolved, who owns it and which uncertainties remain. The authorised organisation retains approval and risk-acceptance authority.

Government application

Support use of the Australian Government AI impact assessment tool where applicable, alongside agency assurance and relevant technical guidance. Novatecno assessment artefacts support those processes; they do not replace mandatory assessments or agency approvals.

Enterprise application

Bring business value, supplier evidence, controls and operational readiness into a consistent review. Make acceptance criteria and the conditions for ongoing use explicit.

NFP / for-purpose application

Give additional attention to vulnerable people, privacy, accessibility, service quality and human relationships. Keep the scope proportionate to the use case and its potential consequences.

Independence matched to the engagement

For an independent review, agree conflicts and separation from design responsibilities at the outset. Where Novatecno has shaped the design, identify that involvement and arrange separate review where required.

Your natural next step

Address findings with the relevant owners, then revisit the decision. Where gaps span architecture, governance and adoption, bring them into a coordinated accelerator engagement.

Practical artefacts for the next decision

Choose the outputs that the agreed scope needs. Each should make a decision, responsibility or next step clearer.

An assessment scope

Evidence and control map

Findings and risk summary

Remediation and condition register

An executive decision brief

And a monitoring and reassessment plan. Recommendations distinguish ready to proceed, proceed subject to conditions, remediation required and escalation recommended
